Tasmanian Activities

  1. Mount Field National Park - Just stunning!  And so easy to reach from our accommodation, a leisurely 1 hour drive. Few other national parks in Australia offer such a diversity in vegetation, ranging from tall swamp gum forests and massive tree ferns at the base of the mountain, through rainforest along the Lake Dobson Road, to alpine vegetation at the higher elevations.

  2. Hartz Mountain National Park - Another special park within a great days drive to the Huon Valley. This park is a window into the south-west wilderness, offering views of remote mountain ranges as far as the southern coast. As well as spectacular views of a landscape which has been shaped by glaciers during past ice ages, the park offers a variety of unique features.

  3. Hastings Caves - The Hastings Caves State Reserve offers visitors a variety of experiences, from relaxing in the warm waters of a thermal springs pool, walking in the rich forests of the reserve and, of course, the unique experience of exploring Newdegate Cave. Both the thermal pool and the trail which leads through the surrounding forests are accessible to wheelchair users.

  4. Tahune Airwalk - just a 90 minute drive south into the magnificent Huon Valley and you can have a beautiful days trip. This 597m walk amongst the trees gets you 20m above the ground. The highlight is the cantilever that is 48m above the river level, providing fantastic views of the forests and the junction of the Picton and Huon Rivers.

  5. Port Arthur Historic site - Port Arthur is one of Australia's great tourism destinations. Every building, every feature of Port Arthur Historic Site has a story to tell. Created with convict labour, the impressive architecture, delightful gardens and chilling prison facilities survive today for you to explore

  6. Richmond Village - Once again we are only a short 20 minute drive from this historic village. In the 1820s, Richmond became one of Lieutenant-Governor Arthur’s police districts; the gaol, the court house, the barracks and a watch house were erected. Today you can see the historic Bridge, Goal, Court House all complimented by craft galleries and many attractions.

  7. Alpenrail - Just a short 10 min trip from Hobart city in the suburb of Claremont is one of the largest model railway layouts in Australia exhibiting such incredible craftsmanship to be rated as one of the top 5 models worldwide! A true gem to experience.

  8. Adventure Tourism - Walk on the Wild side! - all the contacts for your adventure in Tasmania whether it ranks as Mild or moving to the more challenging, this website will help you find & experience the real Tasmania.

  9. Mount Wellington Walks - Mt Wellington towers 1271 metres over Hobart, the southernmost city in Australia.
